Senator Donna Campbell is a double-board certified physician, woman of faith, and proud mother of four daughters who represents the six counties which make up Senate District 25, stretching from San Antonio to Austin.
Senator Campbell was born on a naval base and grew up with a great respect for the military and law enforcement. Her father served in the U.S. Navy and later as a trooper in the highway patrol. Her mother worked in factories most of her life until becoming an R.N. at the age of 48.
Senator Campbell completed her Masters of Nursing from Texas Woman’s University, as a Cardiovascular Clinical Nurse Specialist as well as Nursing Administration. She received her M.D. from Texas Tech University, where she was AOA, the honor society for medical schools. She completed her residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston. She was awarded the prestigious Morton Award as an outstanding resident in ophthalmology at the Hermann Eye Center.
Senator Campbell has served as the Emergency Department Medical Director for several hospitals, including working for the third largest emergency medicine group in the country. She has also been a county health officer and an EMS Medical director. She has performed hundreds of eye surgeries in Ghana, West Africa, volunteering with the Christian Eye Ministry,and later International Aid.
In her first session, Senator Campbell established herself as one of the most conservative voices in the Senate, advocating for fiscal responsibility, education reform, veterans assistance, and protection of second amendment rights. She sits on the Education, Transportation, Jurisprudence, and Veterans Affairs and Military Installations Committees, as well as serving as vice-chair of the Nominations Committee.
Donna Campbell and her husband Stan reside in New Braunfels with their youngest daughter. She feels blessed to serve Senate district 25 and looks forward to continued service for the State of Texas.
